Thomas Allom was an illustrator who had visually captured Turkey before photography was invented. Like David Roberts and William H. Bartlett, Allom was one of the great artists to travel to the Near East in the early 1800s. Allom's scenic portraiture coupled with Robert Walsh's (Chaplain to the British Embassy at the Ottoman Porte) descriptive commentary, are a cultural, historical, and artistic treasure that has cried out for a wider audience. Published in 1838 by Fisher, Son, and Co. Blackmer: 1766 | Atabey: 1316
Publish in two volumes, there are 47 and 49 prints in each book. One of the prints in the first book is a map of Constantinople.
